Peitho is definitely not going to plan
I'm only a few days into marketing Peitho but it's immediately obvious that I've made a lot of mistakes already. In order to remember them and learn from them next month, here are a few intermediary takeaways.
Don't overbuild, seriouslyI thought I'd gone minimal for my MVP, but looking back I could have easily cut around 50% of what I've built. The idea is something I also could have done completely manually, so I only really needed a web app skeleton with a dashboard, login and landing page.
Build to solve your own problemThis idea has already progressed so far from what I originally wanted to build, for a number of reasons. My initial problem was that I wanted a way to automatically create content online to be visible to a wider network, but it's somehow turned into a B2B idea for automating social media posts. It's gone so far from what I wanted to make that I am currently considering a mid-month pivot.
Use the tools at your disposal, stupidI took longer than needed to build the product for stability, when I could have built the same thing 10x faster using AI. This is a bit of a point of pride for me, as I can feel that I'm trying to prove to myself that I'm a real developer, when in all reality it's just slowing me down.
It's not the end of the world, especially as I haven't even got a customer yet, but it's useful to document these thoughts for the second startup, if this one doesn't make the cut.
