Seed Decay Calculator
Treat Seeds Like Assets
Seeds depreciate in storage. Use this scientific calculator to predict when your seed stock will become unviable based on storage conditions.

About the Methodology
This calculator uses a simplified version of the Ellis-Roberts viability equation ($v = K_i - p/\sigma$) to estimate seed longevity. We use family-level constants derived from long-term storage data (like that from the Millenium Seed Bank) to estimate the $\sigma$ (standard deviation) of seed death over time.
- Room Temperature: Models aging in a typical shed or pantry (~20°C, fluctuating humidity).
- Fridge: Models aging in a sealed container at 4°C.
Note: This is an estimation tool. Actual viability depends on initial seed quality, precise moisture content, and species-specific traits. Always perform germination tests for critical stock.
